Yes! Building a website can be overwhelming and is much easier if there is a well-honed process in place. I walk clients through my process, start to finish, to give them a preview of what it’ll be like to work with me, and bring clarity to their vision. I can give my client a better sense of the structured process I use by sending over a Project Form.

I will use Squarespace to build your site. It is easy, fun and simple for you to use on your own when the design process is finished. Squarespace is, no doubt about it, one of the rising stars in the world of DIY website building. Recently named #10 as one of Forbes Cloud 100 Companies (private tech cloud-based companies to watch), the platform is as user friendly as web design gets.
Squarespace launched in 2003 and has grown steadily since, gaining over a million customers over the years. It is a well-funded and well-regarded company. My clients don’t have to worry that Squarespace might be a flash in the pan.
Squarespace was designed for everyone from bloggers to musicians to online retailers, so you can be confident that it is robust and flexible enough to grow with you.
The Customer Care team at Squarespace is available seven days a week, 24-hours a day, and has won several awards for outstanding customer support.
If you are a client who arrives with strong search rankings for key pages or blog posts that you would like to preserve. That by switching platforms may cause a temporary dip in established search ranking, but with Squarespace that dip can be significantly reduced. First, importing blog content, which is often a major contributor to SEO rankings, is a one-step process. Second, it’s easy to customize URLs so inbound links will continue to work. Third, redirects of pages that do not get migrated over are simple to implement and will preserve the SEO value of those pages.
It’s easy to add Google Analytics tracking to your client’s website. Also the Squarespace Metrics App lets you use any mobile device to access page views, visitor statistics, and track social media.
If for some reason my client's want to move their website to another platform down the line, Squarespace lets them export content quickly and easily.
Presentation matters and will continue to matter in the online space. A modern website needs to have a simple, beautiful interface that is easy to use and gorgeous to look at, whether you are a yoga instructor, an attorney, or a food photographer.
Having the right branding, imagery, and copy are prerequisites to creating a great website. The key is to make it easy for my clients to collect and create the best assets possible by giving them detailed instructions on what exactly they’ll need and by assuring them that I will guide them through the process.
While it is true that Squarespace has a tightly curated library of templates to work with, the templates are there to act as a jumping-off point. My client's should be aiming for a website that is distinctly and beautifully branded, but maintains a familiar user experience.
Yes, Squarespace was designed with the do-it-yourself user in mind, making it notably easy for clients to maintain and update their websites on their own, long after the project has successfully completed. Managing websites is a matter of dragging-and-dropping, pulling on corners to resize images, and WYSIWYG editing. If you feel comfortable you will feel right at home.
Squarespace templates are beautifully and thoughtfully designed to incorporate cutting edge UI/UX best practices, which means your website will have the best of the best in “form and function” baked right in.
Squarespace is a self-contained platform that works seamlessly and is fully managed from top to bottom. This means there’s never any need to update software, plugins, or widgets; patch security vulnerabilities; or worry that changing one component might break something else. It also means there’s rarely any need to investigate or pay for third-party apps or plugins since most functionality is native to Squarespace.
Yes! Mobile traffic now accounts for more than half of all website traffic. With that in mind, it’s critical that websites perform across any device and screen size. Every Squarespace template includes a unique mobile experience that matches the overall style of the website, so content will look great on every device, every time.
Every Squarespace website is equipped with all the elements needed for a strong SEO strategy. Site descriptions, page titles, custom URLs, search- friendly formatting, and other key elements are all easily managed. Furthermore, there is an automatically generated built-in sitemap that helps Google to crawl, understand, and ultimately, rank a website.
While Squarespace is robust and powerful, there are times that it isn’t the best fit for my client’s needs. Squarespace isn’t currently built to support:
The vast majority of app functionality my clients are likely to need can be built within a website, which will be accessed far more regularly than an app. Statistically, most people use only five apps, with Facebook taking the lion’s share of that screen time. Having a mobile friendly website that loads quickly and beautifully from a smartphone browser will meet your client’s needs and save visitors the irritating step of stopping to download a new app.
Facebook is important and can drive traffic and sales, but it’s not a substitute for a website. Facebook is akin to having a booth at a farmer’s market — lots of foot traffic but the creative freedom is limited, the signal-to-noise ratio is low, and, at the end of the day, the visitors belong to the market itself.
No, you can buy your domain directly through Squarespace. However, if you already have a domain somewhere else (like GoDaddy or Dreamhost), that's okay too. I will just redirect your domain to your Squarespace website!
A search can be done on a good domain name and register it in your name. All the technical steps necessary will be done to tie in your new domain name to your new website. Although the domain name is the smallest expense of the whole website process, it is actually the most important. Therefore, if the domain name expires, your website will no longer be visible on the internet.
Hosting is the use of the equipment, known as servers, which are necessary in order to make your web design visible on the internet. Hosting fees are paid monthly or yearly in advance.
A domain host provides a domain name, like www.yourdomain.com, that visitors can use to find you. A domain name is like a street address that directs people to your website's location. Domain hosts store domain names and facilitate their registration. If you’re using a domain registered through a third-party provider, like GoDaddy or Dreamhost etc., they are your domain host.
You can look after your own web content and have the option to add content later yourself. The Content Management System (CMS) allows the "non-technical" person to enter and look after their own content in "plain English" and not in computer language.
Content writing is a form of online writing which is closely linked to web marketing campaigns. This means creating the writing which appears on websites that are designed to sell or promote a specific product. Content writers work according to the brief provided by a client. This brief will define their task and any SEO related requirements, such as keywords. The job of the Content Writer is to turn this brief into a finished product which becomes part of the target webpage. Content is distinct from journalism or conventional copywriting in that it is designed to achieve prominence on the web, and must be tailored for this purpose.
Custom programming is functionality that would be is added to a website that is not part of the platform and relies on various programming languages. These are all computer languages that have complex logic and syntax. A website is mostly created with "markup" languages like CSS and HTML that cannot perform logical operations, but simply display text and pictures in different formats. Therefore, the injection of special coding may be required for more intricate functions.
Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the process of improving your site's ranking in search results. While the factors search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo use to rank sites are kept secret and change frequently, I build all known SEO best practices into every Squarespace site. As Squarespace has been the host for millions of websites for over a decade, they have implemented various strategies to help your site appear in search engine results. Squarespace has the technical side covered for you—there's no need to search for plugins or get under the hood.
SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is the process of gaining website traffic by purchasing ads on search engines. Google AdWords is by many measures the most popular paid search platform used by search marketers, followed by Bing Ads. Beyond that, there are a number of “2nd tier PPC (pay-per-click) platforms” as well as PPC advertising options on the major social networks. Typically, SEM and PPC advertising is carried out through search engines, who charge advertisers a predetermined amount every time their ad is clicked. While the search engines profit handsomely from this model, site owners benefit from being able to precisely target their potential customers.
If you require new branding or simply want to update an old logo, no worries, one can be created. Once a logo is finalized and approved, you will be given your new logo in the appropriate file formats for your future needs.
I have access to many licensed images, if you don't have access to appropriate images, or the ones you possess are not HDR High Definition Resolution, you may require stock images.
Yes! With your website, you will be able to push new site content to your social media profiles automatically. Social sharing drives traffic by placing your content on sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc. and will automatically create new posts on your preferred social profiles when you publish new collection items. This is a great shortcut, cutting down the time of manually opening your social profiles and copying and pasting links.
It really depends on how much time you have and the type of business you have but blogging is a great marketing and promoting tool for showing viewers that you are an expert in your field. The purpose of a blog is to allow the non-technical person, be able to have a section of their website where they can update information about their business themselves, and add images on a regular basis without having to pay anyone for updates. It is important to keep your blog information up-to-date. Keep in mind, the most popular current blog format is one created within your website and the more you blog the better.
Yes! Search engine optimization SEO, is the process of improving a website's ranking in search results. The implementation of various strategies and keywords would be done to help your site appear in search engine results.
